The first two homes in Lendon are racing to completion! Which will finish first? It looks like it may turn out to be a photo finish. They are both going up so quickly that we've been very impressed with the builders. Both homes are two story with an attached garage and look very lovely. We can't wait to see more houses pop up in the neighborhood. Here are some pictures of the progress.
My personal views and pictures of the Lendon development happening in Jones Valley. My blog is solely run and maintained personally by me and does not in any way express the official opinions of LENDON Development, Huntsville, Alabama.

Second home is being built up quickly
The second home in Lendon has been rising quickly across the street from the first. This home has a brick base and looks very neat! The first home is now fully enclosed and looking great. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Please feel free if you're in the area to stop by in person and talk with a staff member in the Welcome Center.

The roof is covered!
The construction folks have completed enclosing the roof. This home is going to be amazing! There are several windows in and the rest will follow soon. You can see there's a very cool "loft look" to the second story. The builders are working away on the interior structures as well. All of the internal wall beams are in and awaiting drywall. Let's hope we continue to have good weather so they can get this house done quickly!

Roof beams are in place on the first house of Lendon
If you have the opportunity to drive by Lendon over in Jones Valley I recommend that you do. What a beautiful place! The first home in this new community is going up quickly and more are following. I have included a few pictures of the first house but nothing compares to actually stepping foot in the awesome valley and taking in the natural beauty surrounding this new development.

Second story is under construction
We are happy to see the houses going up quickly! The first floor is enclosed and they have started working on the second story. All of the roofing framework is waiting by the sidelines to be raised upon the top of the structure. Way to go builders! Keep up the good job. Here are a few pictures of the first Lendon House, please feel free to stop by and check it out in person, while you're there don't hesitate to stop in to the sales center for a cool refreshment.

Wow! Look at what we have now! We can see these new awesome buildings shooting up quickly. The first house has it's full foundation, framework, and exterior walls. The second house has the foundation and several rows of brick laid. The roads are beginning to be lined with new grass sod and the site is starting to look more like a community everyday! Continued progress and a second foundation is started
Today we found that progress is steadily moving on 26 Lendon Main. The foundation platform is filled, building lines are in, and some of the wood has arrived. Across the street, the start of a new house is also underway. The base foundation has been dug and poured. Here are some pictures so you can see how it's all coming along.

The foundation is rising at 26 Lendon Main
We are seeing considerable development on the property located at 26 Lendon Main. The foundation looks like it went in very well. It seems like the next logical step will be the addition of building lines and the floor followed closely by the building framework. We'll continue to to keep a close eye on it and bring you pictures as quickly as possible.

Construction is underway!
This may be the day that we have all been waiting for! We are pleased to be able to announce that construction on the first plot is officially underway. There is a building permit posted and concrete has been poured into a foundation trench. You will notice in the pictures that there are several cinder blocks which will be added next, along with a few two by fours. Certainly more lumber is on the way but it is not on site yet. We are very excited to see these buildings start to take shape and watch Lendon grow into the beautiful community that we are all so eager to enjoy. Here are some pictures of the construction at the first plot. I have also included a few pictures of the development around the canal promenade where the sidewalks are being extended and the bed has been excavated.

A fine August day at Lendon
The progress being made on the Lendon properties is a bit subtle if you're looking from a distance. Things like the sidewalks, property lines, and the roads can be a bit hard to see without a close drive by. Here are a few pictures from the Jones Farm Park. I'll get some closeups soon so you can see better. We are still excited to find out exactly what improvements are being made to the walking track. So far we see new dirt added around the far side of the ponds that leads back to the parking lot. We suspect that this will be paved and become a new segment to walk. We'll keep you updated as we get more information!

Pink Skies over Lendon
I came across a good opportunity to take some cool pics here at Lendon which included a nice background of the pink sky provided by mother nature. I also snapped a few shots of the new work around the ponds as well as some of the continued roadside work. I hope you enjoy!

New home construction will begin at LENDON this month!
The moment we have all been waiting for is upon us! We have confirmation that the Huntsville City Council has approved LENDON’s final plan which divides the development area into lots, shows boundary lines, streets, actual measurements, etc.. Now that the plan has been approved construction of the buildings is imminent. In the meantime, there has been a new silt fence put up around the ponds all the way from the Jones farm park parking lot to the walking path bridge that goes over the canal promenade. I am not sure exactly what is happening here, although it looks like there is a possibility of the walking path being expanded to the other side of the ponds. How cool would that be? I took a few pictures of the area with the silt fence but more importantly, I did a drive through of the Lendon roads. Check out this short three minute video to see what the new roads and current development look like. Lendon is taking shape quickly, don't blink or you might miss some exciting new development!

Lendon June updates and a rainbow!
We are pleased to report that all of the roads in the Phase I area seem to be paved as you will notice in the pictures. You will also find that many of the trees have found their way around the newly paved roads which is starting to give the development more of a community feel every day. Of course work is continuing on the rest of the development, much of which pictures can't really capture, for example all of the drainage and utility pipes have been successfully installed. A huge plus, but little to see above ground. I hope you enjoy the pictures, see if you can find the rainbow in a picture or two.

How did Lendon hold up to the heavy rain and flash flooding in Huntsville
Over the weekend you may have noticed the flash flood warnings and wondered how Lendon held up. Good news! The drainage system throughout the development area worked perfectly! All of the water drained as should be expected and there was no unexpected standing water. Here are a few pictures the morning after the flash flood warnings and heavy rainfall. Also notice that the asphalt is down on some of the streets, how cool is that? Any guesses what's next? Street signs? Lights? Buildings? We're all looking forward to the new community and I'll keep bringing you pictures so you can follow this exciting development!

New design signs at Lendon just in time for Valley Fest
With Valley Fest 2014 just a couple of days away we are happy to see some new additions
to Lendon.
We now have several new signs that display the future locations of the various types of buildings and features that will be in each area located throughout the development. These signs are very cool and give us the sense of what will be coming soon. You can look into the pictures, take it in, then close ur eyes and imagine the community that's on its way. We also find that curbside parking cement has been poured on the main street, very cool! Enjoy the pictures at the bottom of the page and don't forget to stop by on Saturday for more fun than you've had in a loooong time!

Lendon - A view from space
We have recently found that a NASA instrument named ISERV has captured a few images of the Lendon development in progress from the International Space Station, so I thought we would share them with you. We also hope that you can stop by this Saturday to meet the Development team and enjoy all of the activities of Valley Fest 2014 at Jones Farm Park which is directly adjacent to the Lendon Development. We are looking for some good weather and great fun, come join us if you can!

Valley Fest Postponed.
The stormy outlook for the weekend has put a damper on the pending Valley Fest in Jones Valley. The festivities have been postponed until May 17th. As we know, one thing leads to another. When one door closes another opens and no doubt turn a negative into a positive. With having to postponed Valley Fest due to chances of rain, Lendon's trees are starting to arrive and the rain will certainly help the new addition to the park and Lendon's streetscapes. So we are indeed happy for the trees to find their new homes and will give them a wet welcome!

Lendon curbs are going in quickly!
The roads here at the Lendon development site continue to make good progress. The curbs are now beginning to line the roads. You know what comes after the curbs right? Of course, the pavement! We hope to be posting pictures of the paved roads soon, but for now here's the current progress at lendon which includes shots of the curbed roads.

Is Lendon on it's side?
Never fear, all is going well over at the Lendon development site. We have a new PBS that has been set on it's side awaiting installation but that's the only thing on it's side. It has been great weather, clearly we are ramping up the spring development, which is why we needed additional PBS units. You can see in the pictures provided by 3.0 Website Designs through the new Google Glass, that more of the roads have been stoned and are actually drivable. The fire hydrants have continued to pop up around the neighborhood, and it is starting to look a lot like a community. I can't wait to see more!
Here's the pictures, I hope you enjoy!

Get ready for spring!
With spring just around the corner and Lendon development starting to ramp back up, it's a good idea to prepare your current location for the upcoming spring season especially if you're planning to sell the current property.
Here are a few good ideas to help your yard look it's best as the new growth starts around it.
Remove debris: Rake away all of the debris from the fall and winter months. Make sure to include leaves and sticks. This will allow your yard to have a fresh start for the spring. If you happen to have leftover rubbish on the lawn, it can get in the way of mowing, watering, seed planting and a number of other activities. Another benefit of raking is loosening of the surface of the soil, which encourages healthy airflow.
Apply more grass seed: This is most important in areas with weak grass growth or dead grass. Make sure you use a strong rake to open the surface. Mix the grass seed with new, healthy soil in a bucket. Then spread the mixture over the ground. Don't forget to regularly water this area to foster hearty and fast grass growth.
Mulch: Mulch is a protective covering that you can apply to soil to lock in moisture. Mulching with a depth of 2 to 4 inches around the bases of trees, shrubs and in flower beds helps to retain water and keep plants warm and healthy.
Water deeply: Many homeowners water their lawns often -- but with little water. However, it's better to water only when your lawn needs it with a lot of water. If you water deep and sparingly, you will train the grass roots to dig deeper into the soil. Whereas, if you water lightly and often, you will train the roots to stay near the surface, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Getting Ready for Spring

Getting ready to move in to your Lendon Home
This may seem a little early to start thinking about moving in to your new Lendon home, but really it's never too early to start the planning. It is best to make sure that you are completely covered in the moving department. Last minute distractions can really be disruptive in a move. So let's cover a few things that you can start thinking about early to avoid the stress of unplanned drama.
1) Consider all of your current belongings.
a) Are there items you own that you use seasonally or relative less often that you can begin to pack?
b) Are there items that you really don't want or use any more that you could donate to charity or sell in a garage sale?
c) Do you have packing supplies such as boxes, shrink wrap, blankets, and straps?
2) Consider the new home, will you need new items?
a) Curtains
b) Throw rugs
c) Throw pillows
d) Furniture
e) Pet supplies
3) Start talking to your service providers
a) Speak with you insurance carrier about the changes you will be making. They can guide you through the process of changing your home owners insurance as well as all other insurance policies you may have.
b) Mailing address will need to be updated. You can do this online in most places or go right down to your local post office. You can schedule this to be done at a future date so it can be taken care of as early as you know a move in date.
c) Cable and phone services are good to schedule as early as possible as well. They get booked and if you don't schedule them early you can be stuck waiting several days or even a week to get you new service.
4) If you are new to the area it is a good idea to spend a weekend or two prior to moving in to become acquainted with the location
a) Drive around and find the local stores and shopping centers.
b) Look around for your exercise locations, gyms, hiking trails, play grounds.
c) Locate and visit your local congregation.
